This past Saturday, September 16, the AEL hosted its annual pig roast. The event was held at Dr. Roy Stein's house on Hoover Reservoir. Josh Stone, the roast coordinator, cooked the pig to perfection. Everyone enjoyed the good company and great weather.

At the end of August 2017, Jim Hood, Susan Curless, and collaborators at Saint Catherine's University and the Icelandic Institute for Freshwater and Marine Fisheries measured primary production in Lagarflöt.
Andrew Bade gave a talk to the Columbus Sea Nags Scuba Diving Club on Sept. 7 at Planks' Cafe and Pizzeria. He presented on the use of acoustic telemetry to understand walleye movement in the Great Lakes.
Stu Ludsin participated in a workshop at the Cornell Biological Field Station. The workshop sought to help identify how changes in ecosystem productivity will influence Great Lakes food webs, as well as identify the implications for fisheries management.
AEL Ph.D. student, David Dippold, received the "North Central Division of the American Fisheries Society Knowledge Seeker Award," a travel award designed to provide funding for graduate students to attend fisheries related trainings, workshops, or continuing education courses.
