AEL Students earn IAGLR Awards

Three AEL graduate students were honored with awards for the annual conference for the International Association for Great Lakes Research.

Demetra Williams, doctoral student with Stu Ludsin, was honored wit the Norman S. Baldwin Fishery Science Scholarship for her research, "Investigating the impacts of dam removal on Walleye spawner movements, juvenile recruitment, and fisheries harvest in Lake Erie." This award is sponsored by the Great Lakes Fishery Commission.

Grace Watson, master's and soon to be doctoral student with Jim Hood, was honored with the David M. Dolan Scholarship for her research "Quantifying Bioavailable Phosphorus Flux in a Sub-watershed of the Maumee River." This award is granted for "research in applied mathematics for the advance of a quantitative understanding and management of the Great Lakes ecosystem."

Lyndsie Collis, doctoral student with Jim Hood, was honored with the IAGLR Scholarship for her research on "Interactions between zooplankton and cyanobacterial harmful algal blooms in western Lake Erie."
