Dowling assists in sturgeon release

Gloved hands surgically implanting a tag into a small sturgeon on a wooden measuring board.

James Dowling, PhD Student with Casey Pennock, was recently featured alongside several of our Ohio Department of Natural Resources-Division of Wildlife collaborators in a video documenting historic Lake Sturgeon reintroduction efforts across the state. James helped with implanting Lake Sturgeon with radio telemetry tags before they were released in the Scioto River. These tags will enable researchers to monitor the movements and habitat use of Lake Sturgeon in the Scioto River over the coming year. James was chosen to help with this project because of his experience tagging and monitoring various fish species for his dissertation work exploring fish movement in the Scioto River.
