Ludsin talks at Kent State
Dr. Stu Ludsin presented the weekly seminar for the Department of Biological Sciences at Kent State University on March 6. His talk focused on Lake Erie as a lens through which to explore human impacts on ecosystems.
Title:
Lake Erie as a Living Lab: Cross-scale Responses to Human-induced Ecosystem Change
Abstract:
As with other large aquatic ecosystems worldwide, Lake Erie has long been experiencing change from multiple human-driven stressors. While the causes of change ecosystem change are largely known, understanding its impacts on Lake Erie’s fish communities and the fisheries that they support has proven challenging. Herein, I draw upon 30 years of research that has largely focused on understanding both past and anticipated impacts of human-driven environmental change on the Lake Erie’s diverse fish communities and valued fisheries, offering insights aimed at benefiting management.
