Dr. Nevine Abou Shabana visits AEL

The AEL is excited to welcome Dr. Nevine Abou Shabana, Head of the Alexandria Aquarium in Egypt, as a visiting scholar during summer 2013. Dr. Abou Shabana is an expert in fish reproduction and will assist with an ongoing research project investigating the effects of climate change on yellow perch reproduction in Lake Erie. Dr. Abou Shabana received her PhD from the University of Alexandria studying the reproductive physiology and embryology of the Nile tilapia. In her current position at the Alexandria Aquarium, she is involved in a variety of research projects focusing on describing the reproductive development and life history of many Red Sea and Mediterranean fishes.
