Mike Fraker was a postdoctoral researcher at the AEL from 2012 until 2019. He was a wonderful colleague and friend, working with many graduate students on improving their work and mentoring undergraduate students. In April of this year he passed away due to kidney failure after his long battle with kidney health. 

AEL faculty and many others who worked with Mike during his time at the AEL joined his other former colleagues, family, and friends for a celebration of his life on September 29. At this event, many spoke of Mike's impact on research and on the people he mentored. Michigan Sea Grant announced the establishment of the Michael Fraker Memorial Fellowship to support the Undergraduate Internship program that Mike championed. Donate to support this fellowship.
