| The Aquatic Ecology Pool Facility The Aquatic Ecology Laboratory, with funding from the Ohio Division of Wildlife and the Department of Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology (OSU), built (and continues to maintain) an outdoor pool facility just north of our wet lab. Within a fenced, secure enclosure, 54 experimental pools (2,500 liters each) are available for extensive replicate experiments with fish and other aquatic organisms. Pools are grouped onto tree-shaded pads, each with its own freeze-proof hydrant. Each pool is supplied with an inflow (up to 20 liters per min, depending on the number of pools in use) of de-chlorinated city water, drains, low-pressure air supply, and a ground-fault electrical outlet. This outdoor enclosure also houses two replicate experimental streams. | |
